Salt painting is a fun art art project for kids of all ages! We usually structure a salt painting lesson around a famous artist or a specific drawing technique such as a continuous line contour drawing. It’s also a great way for younger children to learn about primary and secondary colors, and to experiment with color mixing. |

This super fun and interactive art project for toddlers and pre-schoolers uses empty oatmeal containers! It’s very sensory (loud!!!) – and is great for helping little ones develop their fine and gross motor skills & coordination. It also has toy and game-like elements that really appeal to children, and the prize at the end of all this is a beautiful speckled marble painting! |

Sure you could spend all afternoon trolling Pinterest for a super cute DIY cuff bracelet to whip up to impress your crafty fashion-forward friends, only to be left feeling like the world’s most over-scheduled & creatively stunted human being on the planet. Or you could just spend two minutes making this! |

In the studio, we often set up a really simple low-budget spiral art station with our toddlers and pre-schoolers, using a $7.99 Ikea Lazy Susan. Snudda, for those of you who speak Svenska. It’s a great activity for kids to practice their hand-eye coordination while improving fine and gross motor skills and making a really cool piece of art! |

Looking for the perfect accessory for your new fall outfit? Look no further! These cute baby barn owl pendants can be worn alone or worn in groups (fun fact: a group of owls is called a “parliament.” Really! Look it up!). These pendants are made entirely from recycled materials that are easily found around the house and each one takes approximately four minutes to make! |

The kids in the studio do not believe us when we tell them this is a real telephone! I regale them with nostalgic stories about how in the old days, before computers or video games, you could fill hours every afternoon crank calling boys from school or random strangers to ask if their refrigerator was running. |

“Junk-o-Lanterns”, or “Stuff-on-a-Pumpkin” as we affectionately like to refer to this craft, is one of the few projects where the name, in and of itself, tells you pretty much everything you need to know in order to make one! But let’s walk through it anyway: |

Once upon a time in a land far away, before cable TV and video games, when kids had to chase the ice cream man with their Big Wheels – not their parent’s SUVs – doting moms were concerned that their children would overheat from too much freeze tag, so they had to pull some amazing stuff out of their apron pockets to entice kids to come inside for a few minutes each day. |

Love in the 21st century calls for a healthy dose of unconventional creativity! This Valentine’s Day, when everyone else in the class is mindlessly passing out paper heart doilies and candy hearts, grab your sweetie’s attention with a lovable little piglet made out of recycled crayon chunks and glitter! |
